The Role
The Procurement Manager is responsible for managing the company’s procurement, supply chain, and warehouse functions to support reliable production, operational efficiency, and cost control.
This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on operational responsibility. As the company’s sole procurement professional, the Procurement Manager will manage the full end-to-end procurement process, including sourcing suppliers, purchasing materials and components, supplier relationship management, and resolving supply issues. The role also oversees supply chain coordination to ensure materials are available to meet production and customer requirements.
The role includes responsibility for supplier performance management, supplier audits, and regular supplier visits to ensure suppliers meet the required standards for quality, delivery, and cost.
Working closely with the leadership team, the Procurement Manager ensures procurement and supply chain activities support the operational needs and long-term growth of the business.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement Leadership and Operational Purchasing
The Procurement Manager develops and implements procurement strategies that support cost control, supply continuity, and supplier performance.
Alongside strategic procurement activities, the role includes day-to-day purchasing responsibilities such as sourcing components, raising and managing purchase orders, negotiating pricing and delivery terms, managing supplier communications, and resolving supply issues. As the only procurement professional in the business, the role manages both operational purchasing and strategic procurement initiatives.
The role maintains oversight of supplier contracts, commercial agreements, and purchasing processes to ensure value for money and effective risk management.
Supply Chain Management
The Procurement Manager has responsibility for coordinating the end-to-end supply chain to ensure materials and components are delivered in line with production and operational requirements.
This includes managing supplier lead times, monitoring supply risks, maintaining appropriate inventory levels, and coordinating closely with production and operations teams to ensure material availability.
The role monitors supply chain performance, identifies potential disruptions, and implements mitigation strategies to maintain continuity of supply and operational efficiency.
Supplier Management, Audits, and Development
The role manages supplier relationships across a global supply base to ensure suppliers meet technical, quality, delivery, and cost expectations.
This includes identifying and onboarding new suppliers, conducting supplier capability assessments, carrying out supplier audits, and undertaking regular supplier visits where appropriate.
The Procurement Manager monitors supplier performance and works with suppliers to address performance issues and drive continuous improvement.
Warehouse and Inventory Oversight
The Procurement Manager has oversight of warehouse operations and inventory control.
This includes ensuring materials and components are received, stored, and issued in line with operational requirements, traceability standards, and safety procedures. The role works closely with warehouse personnel and operations teams to ensure stock accuracy, effective inventory control, and alignment between procurement, warehouse activity, and production needs.
The role also supports improvements to warehouse processes, stock management practices, and operational efficiency.
Internal Collaboration and Business Support
The role works closely with internal stakeholders across engineering, production, operations, and aftersales to ensure procurement and supply chain activities align with operational priorities.
The Procurement Manager provides reporting to senior management on procurement performance, supplier performance, supply risks, and cost management initiatives.
Supplier Quality Collaboration
Working closely with engineering and quality teams, the Procurement Manager supports supplier quality activities and helps resolve supplier-related issues.
This includes supporting supplier investigations, managing supplier non-conformances, and ensuring corrective actions are implemented effectively to improve supplier performance.
Compliance and Ethics
Ensure all procurement and supply chain activities comply with company policies, regulatory requirements, and internal governance standards.
Promote ethical behaviour and professional conduct across all commercial operations functions.
Health, Safety, and Compliance
The role supports and promotes health and safety standards across procurement, supply chain, and warehouse activities. This includes ensuring suppliers meet relevant regulatory requirements and that procurement and supply chain processes align with company policies and safety standards.

Person Specification
Essential:
- Significant experience in procurement and supply chain management within a manufacturing or engineering environment
- Experience managing end-to-end procurement processes including operational purchasing
- Strong experience managing supplier relationships and commercial negotiations
- Experience conducting supplier audits and supplier development activities
- Experience managing supply chain coordination and supply risk
- Understanding of warehouse operations and inventory management
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work both strategically and operationally in a hands-on leadership role
Desirable:
- Background within marine, diesel engine, automotive, or heavy equipment industries
- Familiarity with ERP or MRP systems
- Experience managing global supplier networks
- Experience implementing procurement or supply chain improvements in a growing organisation
Pay: £45,000.00-£55,000.00 per year
