About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Maintenance Technician to support the daily operations of our hotel’s maintenance and facilities functions. This hands-on role involves carrying out both planned and reactive maintenance across mechanical, electrical, and general building systems to ensure the property remains safe, compliant, and fully operational.
The successful candidate will work under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, playing a vital role in maintaining guest satisfaction, supporting inspections, managing repairs, and upholding high presentation standards throughout the property. Flexibility, practical problem-solving, and a strong sense of responsibility are essential.
Key Responsibilities
Facilities Support & Maintenance
- Conduct daily inspections of guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces
- Perform repairs to plumbing, lighting, fixtures, fittings, and general wear and tear
- Complete Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) tasks and respond promptly to maintenance tickets
- Support operation and upkeep of heating, lighting, and ventilation systems
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organised maintenance workspace
Preventive & Statutory Maintenance
- Complete all statutory and operational PPM tasks within required timelines
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, sign-off sheets, and contractor reports
- Perform checks across building systems including CCTV, ladders, drainage, A/C units, shower heads, fire safety systems, water hygiene, asbestos, and tools
Reactive Maintenance
- Manage day-to-day repairs including water leaks, HVAC resets, electrical works, carpentry, locks, tiling, flooring, and painting
- Support IT and technical systems maintenance in coordination with relevant teams
- Inspect contractor work, verify completion, and sign off on repairs
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Maintain compliance logs for fire safety, Legionella, asbestos, PAT testing, and other statutory requirements
- Conduct routine checks and ensure all safety equipment is operational
- Follow health and safety procedures, including PPE usage, safe waste disposal, and working at heights
Inventory & Asset Management
- Maintain and organise tools, spares, and equipment for rapid response to failures
- Track property inventory and equipment usage to ensure operational efficiency
- Conduct bi-annual inspections of in-house tools and maintain documentation
Grounds & Exterior Maintenance
- Maintain hotel exterior including gardens, car parks, bin areas, and delivery zones
- Assist with landscaping, basic gardening, and exterior cleaning
- Support housekeeping during peak periods or special circumstances
Administration & Reporting
- Monitor contractor performance against SLAs and service agreements
- Manage maintenance budgets and recommend cost efficiencies
- Deliver small security and compliance-related projects to improve operational standards
- Ensure seasonal readiness of hotel facilities and systems
Team Collaboration & Support
- Follow task lists from the Maintenance Manager and prioritise urgent work
- Collaborate with Housekeeping and Operations teams to support guest readiness and hotel standards
- Respond professionally and promptly to guest-impacting maintenance issues
Presentation & Property Standards
- Maintain tidy and safe back corridors, storage areas, and maintenance spaces
- Perform minor cosmetic repairs and touch-ups to uphold property standards
Skills & Qualifications
- Strong technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and general building systems
- Experience with compliance and health & safety standards, including fire safety, Legionella, asbestos, and PAT testing
- Organised with strong inventory and asset management skills
- Ability to balance reactive maintenance with long-term preventive planning
- Hands-on problem solver, able to work independently and efficiently
- Physically fit and comfortable using tools, equipment, and working at heights
- Good teamwork and communication skills
- Reliable, flexible, and committed to maintaining high property standards
- DBS check required
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Teams, Outlook)
- Experience with systems such as Flexkeeping, Saeker, Slack, and Fourth is desirable
- Previous experience in hotel, hospitality, or operational maintenance roles preferred
