This is a new and exciting volunteering role with our young and rare dementia service.
We are looking for a friendly volunteer to help with general gardening tasks. This will be a great opportunity to spend time outdoors, help to keep the allotment well tended, meet new people and be part of a small team.

The role is intended to enhance the experience of those people using the services by supporting and encouraging our service users to take part in gardening group activities. Also helping to look after our allotment if no service users are present.
What the role involves:
Encourage and support service users to participate in a range of basic gardening based activities/groups if present
Carrying out general gardening tasks such as keeping pathways clear of leaves, weeding and tidying patches, pots and borders.
Meet with the lead garden volunteer and site caretaker for extra support and guidance on what gardening tasks need doing.
Getting out and putting away gardening tools safely
Light lifting and bending.

DBS Level for this role is : Enhanced with adult barred list
The knowledge, skills and attributes required for the role:
A keen interest/experience in Gardening (no mowing required)
Gardening skills in growing plants, flowers & veg
Good communication skills.
Punctuality and reliability.
Ability to effectively engage with service users, carers and staff
