General Farm Worker/Maintenance

If you said yes to the above, we have a fantastic opportunity for you to join our friendly family-run dairy farm. This role offers a rewarding and varied work environment, where you’ll be part of a dedicated team caring for our maintenance, assisting with arable operations and livestock.
About Us
We are a year-round calving dairy farm, milking 700 Holsteins and rearing 270 replenishment youngstock. Our farm also operates 322 acres of mixed sward grass leys to support our dairy herd in the summer and a 550-acre arable enterprise, growing maize, wheat, barley, cover crops, and long- and short-term grass leys.
The Role
This position is seasonally varied and includes a mix of farm maintenance, animal care, and machinery operation.
Farm Maintenance & Projects
Helping with farm improvement projects and general maintenance, including (but not limited to):
- Fencing
- Welding
- Concreting and building repairs
- Converting buildings (alongside contractors)
Livestock & Youngstock Responsibilities
- Routine bedding, scraping, and feeding
- Ensuring high welfare standards for our youngstock and late-lactation dairy cows
Seasonal & Machinery Work
- Assisting with silage making, harvest, cultivations, and straw hauling
- Operating tractors and machinery for general farm work
Working Hours
- Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM (40 hours/week)
- Alternate weekend work for essential livestock tasks (can be adjusted for a weekday off if you prefer)
- Flexibility required during harvest and silage making (which is paid at overtime rate)
About You
We’re looking for someone who:
✅ Has experience with on farm repairs and maintenance e.g. welding, fencing
✅ Has experience handling and caring for livestock
✅ Experience driving tractors is preferred but not essential
✅ Holds a valid UK driving license (essential)
✅ Can work well in a team and motivated when working alone
✅ Has good problem-solving skills and a proactive approach
