Health Connections is looking for reliable, calm and professional Bank Secure Ambulance Technicians to support our growing secure transport service.
This is a bank role, with the majority of work expected to be available at weekends. Some weekday shifts may also become available to cover sickness, annual leave, holidays and additional operational demand.
As a Secure Ambulance Technician, you will support the safe and professional transport of patients who may require a higher level of support, observation, reassurance or secure transport planning. This may include mental health transport, secure patient transfers, hospital discharges, inter-facility transfers, community collections and other operational work.
This role would suit someone who is calm under pressure, compassionate, reliable and confident working with vulnerable or distressed patients.
Main Duties
As a Bank Secure Ambulance Technician, your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the safe and professional transport of patients.
- Working as part of a crew to complete secure ambulance journeys and patient transport bookings.
- Assisting patients to and from vehicles, wards, departments, care settings and home addresses where required.
- Providing reassurance and clear communication to patients who may be anxious, distressed, vulnerable or presenting with complex needs.
- Reading and understanding risk information before attending bookings.
- Supporting dynamic risk assessment during journeys.
- Using de-escalation, communication and reassurance techniques in line with training.
- Following company procedures for restraint, safer handling or enhanced support only where trained, authorised and necessary.
- Maintaining regular communication with the control room.
- Reporting any change in patient presentation, behaviour, risk or welfare.
- Communicating professionally with patients, relatives, carers, healthcare professionals, police, ambulance services and other stakeholders.
- Completing vehicle checks and reporting any defects or concerns.
- Keeping vehicles clean, tidy, stocked and ready for operational use.
- Completing journey records, handover information and required documentation accurately.
- Following infection prevention and control procedures.
- Maintaining patient dignity, confidentiality and respect at all times.

Essential Requirements
- Full UK driving licence.
- Availability for bank work mainly at weekends.

- De-escalation, PMVA, restraint, safer handling or conflict management training.
- Hospital, NHS, mental health or care environments.
- Professional driving, logistics or operational transport.

The role is about more than transport. You will often be working with people who may be vulnerable, distressed, anxious or presenting with complex needs. A calm approach, strong communication skills and professional boundaries are essential.
Although this is a bank role, reliability is still extremely important. The majority of work will be available at weekends, with some weekday shifts available where required to support sickness, annual leave, holidays and wider operational demand.
