Job Summary
We are currently looking for a Foundry Fettler or Foundry Caster to join our manufacturing team, depending on the successful candidate’s previous experience. Salary will be competitive and based on experience and skill level.
This is a hands-on role within a busy foundry environment, offering the opportunity to work in fettling, casting, grinding, finishing, and general foundry operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, good attention to detail, and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
Foundry Fettler
Responsibilities
- Remove excess material from castings using grinders, hand tools, and fettling equipment
- Finish castings to the required quality and specification standards
- Operate fettling and finishing machinery safely and efficiently
- Inspect finished castings for defects and report any quality concerns
- Carry out basic assembly or fitting work where required
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment in line with health and safety procedures
- Assist with general foundry duties when needed
- Identify minor equipment or tooling issues and report them appropriately
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in fettling, grinding, fabrication, or a similar industrial role is preferred
- Confident using grinders, hand tools, and power tools
- Good attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work
- Basic mechanical knowledge and practical problem-solving skills
- Ability to work from measurements and carry out basic calculations
- Physically fit and comfortable working in a hands-on manufacturing environment
- Reliable, hardworking, and able to work independently or as part of a team
- Willingness to learn and develop new skills within the foundry industry
Foundry Caster
Responsibilities
- Prepare moulds and materials for the casting process
- Pour molten metal safely and efficiently in accordance with production procedures
- Operate foundry equipment and machinery safely
- Monitor castings during production to ensure quality standards are achieved
- Carry out basic finishing and cleaning of cast products where required
- Inspect completed castings and report any defects or production issues
- Follow all health and safety procedures within the foundry environment
- Support general foundry operations and continuous improvement activities
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in foundry casting or a similar manufacturing environment is advantageous
- Understanding of casting processes, mould preparation, and metal handling
- Ability to follow technical instructions and production specifications
- Good awareness of workplace health and safety practices
- Strong practical and mechanical skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Reliable, motivated, and willing to learn new processes and techniques
- Physically fit and capable of working in a demanding industrial environment
