Joining us as an Accounts Assistant, you’ll become an important part of our finance function, working closely with the Managing Director. This 12‑month maternity‑cover role offers varied experience and the opportunity to build your accounting expertise within a supportive, growing business that values enthusiasm and diversity.
We’re looking for someone confident with Sage 50, double‑entry bookkeeping and Excel. Familiarity with CIS and VAT would be a bonus. If you’re proactive, detail‑driven and eager to learn, you’ll enjoy flexible working and a generous rewards package.
Main duties will include:
- Daily bank reconciliations
- Daily input of purchase invoices and resolving queries
- Weekly subcontractor invoice entry on Sage
- Verifying new subcontractors with HMRC
- Weekly credit control
- Monthly issue of customer statements
- Supplier payments runs
- Monthly processing of credit card receipts
- Monthly CIS return and issuing of monthly CIS statements
- Monthly recurring journals
- Assistance with preparation of monthly management accounts
- Assistance with preparation of monthly payroll
- Preparation and submission of Quarterly VAT returns
- Assistance with preparation of annual financial statements
- Credit check new clients using software
- Setting up new clients and suppliers on Sage
- Balance sheet reconciliations
Skills Required:
- Minimum of 3 years in a financial role is essential
- Excellent IT skills, especially in Microsoft Excel is essential
- Experience of Sage 50 accounts is preferred
- AAT qualifications preferred or similar
- Excellent communication skills essential
- An organised, self-motivated approach is essential
- Electrical industry or CIS experience preferable
