Position: Head of Hosting and Private Dining

Role Purpose

As our Head Hostess at …At Sloane, you will lead and organise the host team, ensuring the guest journey is managed with precision, elegance, and consistency from the moment of booking through to departure. Acting as the main point of reference for the hostess team, you will work closely with the Restaurant Manager, Bar Manager, and wider operations team to ensure reservations, guest flow, communication, and presentation standards are executed faultlessly.

This role is heavily operational and team-focused, requiring strong leadership, organisation, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of luxury hospitality standards. You will play a key role in developing the host team, maintaining operational structure, and ensuring the team delivers warm, polished, and highly personalised service in line with the …At Sloane ethos.

In this role you will be the main point of contact for our private events hosted in our intimate restaurant and dining room, assessing what requests are suitable for our identity before collaborating with the bar and restaurant management to ensure seamless event planning, organisation, and communication. You will also be responsible for some of our social media, adhering to our style and restraint that allows us to protect our intimate spaces from being overly publicised, while still inviting intrigue.

Your role will include the following responsibilities:

Host Team Leadership & Organisation:

Lead, organise, and support the host team on a daily basis, ensuring smooth communication and consistency of service.
Draft and release the hostess rota in collaboration with the restaurant manager.
Ensure all host duties and opening/closing responsibilities are completed accurately and consistently.
Maintain and update SOPs for the host team, ensuring they are properly trained on and followed.
Assist in training, coaching, and developing hosts to improve confidence, organisation, and service standards.
Support the recruitment process for hosts through interviews, trial shifts, and feedback.

Reservations & Guest Management:

Oversee the organisation of reservations and guest notes to ensure smooth service and strong guest recognition.
Ensure the host team communicates accurate information regarding the restaurant, bar, menus, opening hours, and hotel concept.

Operational Coordination:

Collaborate closely with restaurant, bar, kitchen, and reception teams to ensure seamless communication throughout service.
Delegate stations to the hostess team, and ensure the all team members are dutifully looking after their post (e.g. bar door, cloakroom, etc.)

Private Event Planning:

Ascertain whether an enquiry sent to the hotel for a private event is aligned with us or not, independently responding in a timely manner with what we can and cannot offer.
Be there on the day to welcome/host guests and ensure seamless execution of the event.

Social Media:

Repost stories daily from the right type of guests, with an eye for beautiful shots of our hotel, bar, and restaurant that aligns with our style and identity.
Schedule posts programmed by our photographer and media team.

Guest Experience:

Maintain a strong floor presence during service, assisting with guest recognition, arrivals, departures, and service recovery where necessary.
Support the team in building long-term guest relationships through consistency, professionalism, and attention to detail.
