Lead Loft Installer – Bristol Depot
British Lofts is looking for an outstanding Lead Loft Installer to help launch and grow our new Bristol depot.
This is a hands-on contractor role for a competent fitter, installer, carpenter, multi-trader or experienced loft installer who takes pride in doing clean, professional work in customers’ homes.
You’ll be one of the key people on the ground as we expand into the Bristol area. To begin with, you’ll be carrying out both surveys and installations. As the depot grows, you’ll also help us recruit, train and onboard additional installer teams.
This is not just another fitting job. It is a chance to become a pivotal part of a growing specialist business with strong reviews, a trusted reputation and a proven marketing engine generating customer demand.
Pay:
£160–£240 per day, depending on experience, tools, van setup and ability.
This is a self-employed contractor position, with the option to move PAYE in future for the right person.
Survey days and installation days are paid at the same agreed day rate.
The work
British Lofts helps homeowners turn unused lofts into safe, clean and practical storage spaces.
You’ll be fitting:
- Raised loft boarding systems
- Loft insulation
- Loft hatches
- Loft ladders
- Loft lighting
- Storage accessories
You’ll be working in customers’ homes, so the quality of the finish matters — but so does the way you present yourself, communicate and leave the property.
This is good, dry, year-round work. It is also physically demanding. You must be comfortable working in loft spaces, using ladders, working at height, handling insulation, and operating in confined spaces with awkward access.
What we’re looking for:
You do not need to have done loft boarding specifically, as full training will be provided.
You do need to be a competent, practical installer who can be trusted to represent the business properly.
You could be a good fit if you have experience as a:
- Fitter
- Multi-trader
- Carpenter
- Kitchen or bedroom installer
- Loft installer
- General installer
- Practical hands-on tradesperson
The right person will be:
- Reliable, punctual and organised
- Confident using tools and working independently
- Presentable and good with customers
- Comfortable doing surveys as well as installations
- Able to follow a system and work to a high standard
- Comfortable in confined loft spaces and with manual handling
- Safe and sensible when working at height and climbing ladders
- Interested in helping build something, not just turning up for a day rate
Van, tools and training:
Own tools are required.
Own van is advantageous, but not essential for the right person. We can provide a van if needed.
All training will be provided for both quoting/surveying and installations, including our products, systems and customer process.
Uniform will be provided.
Location:
You’ll work from our Bristol depot and cover Bristol and the surrounding areas, generally within around 60 minutes of the depot.
The role will be flexible contractor days to begin with, with the aim of becoming full-time once the Bristol pipeline is established — likely after the first couple of months.
Some jobs may be completed independently. Others may involve working with another installer or labourer depending on the size of the job.
Why join British Lofts?
British Lofts is a growing specialist loft storage business with a strong reputation, great reviews and a clear premium service offering.
We are not looking for someone who just wants to do basic fitting work. We are looking for someone who can become the lead installer for Bristol, help us set the standard locally, and play a key role as we build installer teams around the region.
For the right person, this is an opportunity to get in early with a growing business, take ownership of a new area, and build a long-term working relationship with us.
