Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and dedicated Domestic / Laundry Assistant to join our nursing home team. The successful candidate will ensure the home is kept clean, safe and hygienic at all times, maintaining high standards of appearance that support the quality of care and lifestyle of our residents.
This role is essential in promoting residents’ privacy, dignity and wellbeing, with particular respect for their personal possessions and living spaces.
Responsibilities
- Clean all allocated areas including residents’ rooms, communal areas, furniture, fittings, carpets, fabrics and equipment
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and infection control throughout the home
- Clean and sanitise bathrooms and other equipment, following strict guidelines for infection control
- Follow the nursing home’s Health & Safety policies and observe COSHH regulations at all times
- Report faulty equipment, fittings or maintenance issues that cannot be resolved through routine cleaning
- Dispose of waste safely in the designated collection skips
- Operating laundry equipment correctly
- Daily cleaning of laundry equipment
- Daily de-fluffing of dryers
- Reporting any defects to the Administrator
- Ensure correct use of bags for soiled and infectious linen
- Correctly mark, sort and distribute residents’ clothing to appropriate rooms
- Keep the laundry and storage areas clean, organised and hygienic
- Participate in agreed training programmes appropriate to domestic staff
- Carry out any other reasonable duties required as part of the role
Experience
- Previous cleaning or laundry experience in a care or healthcare setting is desirable but not essential as full training will be provided
