What we’re looking for
We’re looking for an experienced Head of Engineering to bring together and lead a unified engineering function across WorkNest and WorkNest Secure. You’ll align .NET and PHP development teams into one cohesive, high-performing engineering organisation of around 20 people, creating consistency in ways of working, improving productivity, and driving stronger delivery outcomes.
This is far more than a traditional delivery leadership role. You’ll take ownership of engineering performance across the full software development lifecycle, embedding modern engineering practices, introducing meaningful metrics, and helping teams operate with greater focus, accountability, and commercial impact.
A key part of the role will be leading the adoption of AI-assisted development across engineering teams. You’ll assess how AI is currently being used, identify opportunities to accelerate productivity and innovation, and help shape how engineering evolves as the business grows.
You’ll also play a critical role in bringing teams together during a period of transformation and future acquisitions, helping create one unified technology platform and engineering culture across the wider group.
Working closely with Product, Commercial and Operations teams, you’ll ensure engineering investment aligns to business priorities, commercial outcomes, and client value.
About you
You’ll bring proven experience leading engineering teams within a high-growth SaaS or technology environment, with a strong track record of improving engineering productivity, quality, and delivery performance.
You’ll have experience using engineering metrics such as DORA or flow metrics to drive continuous improvement, alongside a strong understanding of agile delivery environments, sprint-based working, and modern engineering practices.
We’re looking for someone who combines strategic thinking with hands-on leadership someone who can unite teams, bring clarity during change, and build a collaborative, high-performing engineering culture.
You’ll also be passionate about emerging technology and AI-enabled software development, with the credibility to influence senior stakeholders and help shape the future direction of engineering across the group.
Experience within a private equity backed, acquisitive, or fast-growth business would be highly advantageous.
