Full job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a friendly and efficient Coffee Shop Assistant to join our team Ori Caffe within the John Lewis Store Liverpool One. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering excellent customer service, preparing and serving a variety of beverages and food items, and maintaining a clean and welcoming environment. This role offers an opportunity to develop barista skills and gain experience in the hospitality industry within a vibrant, fast-paced setting.

Duties

Take customer orders accurately and efficiently, ensuring prompt service
Prepare and serve hot and cold beverages, including coffee, tea, and specialised drinks
Assist with food preparation, including handling baked goods and light snacks
Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene in all areas of the shop
Serve customers in person or via contactless methods, providing friendly assistance
Keep the shop clean and organised, including cleaning equipment and work surfaces
Manage cash register operations, including handling payments accurately
Restock supplies as needed to ensure smooth daily operations
Follow health and safety regulations at all times to ensure a safe environment for staff and customers

Qualifications

Previous barista experience is desirable but not essential; training will be provided for suitable candidates
Knowledge of food safety standards is advantageous
Experience in serving customers in a fast-paced environment is preferred
Basic maths skills for handling cash transactions accurately
Good time management skills to prioritise tasks effectively during busy periods
Ability to work well as part of a team with a positive attitude
Organised with strong attention to detail to maintain cleanliness and orderliness in the shop
