Full job description

Reports to: Director

Location: Ké Steps Preschool, Bluebell Hill Community Centre

Hours: 8.30am–3.30pm (Term Time Only)

Purpose of the Role

The Operations Manager is responsible for leading the day-to-day operation of Ké Steps Preschool, ensuring children, families and staff experience a safe, organised and nurturing environment every day.

Working alongside the Director and Curriculum Lead, you will create a culture where high-quality practice, teamwork and children's wellbeing remain at the heart of everything we do.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership

Lead the day-to-day running of the preschool.
Support, motivate and organise the staff team.
Model excellent practice and positive professional relationships.
Help create a culture where everyone feels valued and supported.

Safeguarding & Compliance

Lead safeguarding practice on site.
Ensure statutory requirements are consistently met.
Oversee Health & Safety procedures and daily safety checks.
Monitor the safe operation of the setting.

Parent Partnerships

Build warm, trusting relationships with families.
Support parents with professionalism and empathy.
Respond positively to concerns and feedback.

Daily Operations

Coordinate staffing and daily routines.
Ensure the environment is prepared, safe and welcoming.
Support practitioners working within ratio.
Work collaboratively with the Curriculum Lead to ensure routines support children's learning.

Quality Improvement

Identify opportunities to improve practice.
Support reflective discussions with staff.
Help maintain the high standards expected at Ké Steps.

Essential Qualifications

Level 3 Early Years qualification or above
Enhanced DBS
Paediatric First Aid
Safeguarding training
Experience within a senior or supervisory early years role
