About the Role
Are you an experienced Spray Painter / Coatings Technician who takes pride in delivering flawless, high-quality industrial finishes in line with customer specifications?
Join our growing team in Chichester, where you will responsible for the preparation, painting and protective coating of our premium modular and portable buildings.
In this role, you will work with advanced industrial coatings -including two-pack (2K) and polyurea systems - transforming prepared steel structures into durable, customer-ready products. - Surface Preparation: Cleaning, degreasing, sanding, grinding, and masking steel frameworks and modular building components to ensure perfect coating adhesion.
- Mixing & Application: Mixing and applying primers, topcoats, industrial two-pack (2K) coatings, and polyurea systems in accordance with manufacturers' specifications, achieving specified RAL colours and high cosmetic standards.
- Equipment Operation: Operating, cleaning, and performing routine maintenance on airless, HVLP, and conventional spray systems to maximize performance and minimize downtime.
- Quality Control & Touch-ups: Conducting ongoing quality inspections against company and customer specifications; identifying, recording, and reporting defects or coating failures, and carrying out repairs or re-finishing work where required.
- Stock & Material Management: Safely storing paints, coatings, tools, and equipment after daily use, and maintaining adequate stock levels of consumables to support production requirements.
- Teamwork & Schedule: Working closely with supervisors and colleagues to plan and prioritize workloads, meet production schedules, and support other departments where trained and authorized.
- Safety, Environment & Housekeeping: Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized workstation at all times; participating in toolbox talks, safety briefings, and mandatory training; and strictly complying with Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) procedures, including the correct use of PPE and respiratory protective equipment (RPE).
Essential Requirements
· Minimum of 2 years' experience in industrial spray painting or protective coatings
· Proven experience applying two-pack (2K) industrial coatings
· Experience applying polyurea coatings
· Experience spraying structural steelwork, modular buildings or fabricated steel components
· Excellent knowledge of surface preparation techniques
· Ability to consistently produce high-quality finishes
· Good understanding of coating specifications and RAL colour systems
· Good understanding of Health & Safety requirements relating to industrial painting and hazardous substances
· Willingness to work away from home when required for site installations
· Full UK Driving Licence
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
· NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Industrial Coatings, Vehicle Refinishing or equivalent.
· CSCS Card
· IPAF and/or PASMA certification
· Face Fit Certification for Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE)
· Experience working within the modular construction or structural steel industries
· Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
