Full job description

Job Summary
We are looking for a proactive and customer-focused Taxi Dispatch Operator to join our busy transport office. This role is key to ensuring the smooth and efficient coordination of taxi services for our customers and drivers. You will manage incoming bookings, allocate jobs to drivers in real time, and provide excellent support to both customers and team members.

The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, have great attention to detail, and enjoy problem-solving under pressure. If you are dependable, organised, and have a strong sense of responsibility, we’d love to hear from you.

Full training will be given, so no previous experience required, however knowledge of Barnham and technology is desirable.

Duties

Booking Management: Receive and manage bookings via phone, email, or our online dispatch system.
Dispatching: Allocate jobs to drivers efficiently based on location, route, and availability.
Customer Service: Provide friendly and professional support to customers, handling inquiries, complaints, and special requests.
Driver Coordination: Communicate clearly with drivers, ensuring all instructions and changes are relayed accurately and promptly.
Monitoring: Track vehicle locations and journey progress using our dispatch software.
Problem-Solving: Handle last-minute changes, cancellations, or breakdowns quickly and effectively.
Administration: Maintain accurate records of bookings, customer details, and completed trips for reporting and billing.
Teamwork: Work closely with management and other office staff to maintain a smooth daily operation.

Requirements

Previous experience as a Dispatcher, Transport Coordinator, or Customer Service Operator is desirable, however full training will be given.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong multitasking ability and calmness under pressure.
Confident using computers and dispatch or booking systems.
Good geographical knowledge of Barnham and the surrounding areas.
Flexible with working hours (may include evenings, weekends, and holidays).
Reliable, punctual, and professional attitude.
