Role Description: Activities Coordinator

Role purpose
To plan and deliver a welcoming, enjoyable and inclusive programme of activities for
members aged 60+, with a strong focus on growing membership, building
partnerships with like-minded organisations, and producing clear, engaging
communications (including a regular newsletter). The postholder will also provide
occasional administrative support to the Charity Manager to help the club run
smoothly.
Key responsibilities
Membership growth and engagement: promote the club, welcome new
members, encourage renewals, and help create a friendly, supportive
environment that keeps people coming back.
Networking and partnerships: build and maintain links with other community
groups, voluntary organisations, statutory services and local businesses to
raise awareness, share opportunities and collaborate on activities.
Membership Programme development: collaborating with members and the
wider Chichester & District community to find opportunities for new activities,
expanding the Newell Centre Association's offerings to fulfil its charitable
objectives.
Monthly meeting: organise entertainment, speakers and activities for the
monthly meeting (including booking, confirming requirements, and
coordinating on-the-day set-up and running order).
Communications: produce and distribute a regular newsletter and other
communications (e.g., posters, flyers, email updates), ensuring information is
clear, accurate and timely.
Supplier and volunteer coordination: liaise with entertainers, venues and
volunteers; agree expectations; and ensure everyone has the information they
need.
Administration: support the Charity Manager with tasks such as maintaining
membership lists, handling enquiries, minute-taking, basic records, and
supporting simple reporting as required.
Occasional holiday cover for Charity Manager for general enquires.
Budget awareness: work within agreed budgets for activities and
entertainment; obtain quotes where appropriate; and keep simple cost records
for approval.
Safety and safeguarding: help ensure activities are delivered safely and
inclusively, with appropriate risk awareness, accessibility considerations and
safeguarding practices.
Reporting and working arrangements
Reports to: Charity Manager
Works closely with: trustees/committee, volunteers and partner organisations
Location: Newell Centre Chichester and occasional local outreach activity
Hours: 4 hours a week with flexibility over each month = 16 hours per month
total
Includes attendance at the monthly meeting (2 nd Thursday of the month 10
month per year. Wednesday morning to support coffee and chat and sitting
exercise class weekly and occasional additional events)
Pay: From £13.00 per hour
