Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated Trainee Drill Rig Operator to join our team. This entry-level position offers an excellent opportunity to develop specialised skills in drilling operations within the quarry and mining industries. The role involves assisting with the operation and maintenance of drill rigs under supervision, gaining practical experience in a dynamic environment. Candidates with an interest in mechanical systems and a willingness to learn are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the setup and operation of drill rigs, ensuring safety and efficiency during drilling activities
- Support the maintenance and inspection of drilling equipment, including basic troubleshooting
- Help in preparing sites for drilling operations, including site clearance and positioning of machinery
- Operate auxiliary machinery such as excavators when required, under supervision
- Follow health and safety protocols at all times to minimise risks on-site
- Assist with transportation of materials using commercial vehicles, subject to licensing and training requirements
- Maintain accurate records of operations, inspections, and maintenance activities
Experience
- Mechanical knowledge or background is advantageous but not essential; willingness to learn is key
- Experience operating excavators or similar heavy machinery is desirable
- Commercial driving experience or valid driving licence is preferred but not mandatory; training will be provided if necessary
- Prior exposure to construction or mining environments is beneficial but not required
