Full job description

Main purpose

To ensure that the company purchases its raw materials and packaging cost-effectively and to the appropriate quality standards

Responsibilities

Be market experts in allocated categories
Represent purchasing team at allocated business critical meetings.
Develop Procurement category strategies for allocated areas of spend.
Implement procurement strategies to maintain security of supply and support business needs.
Negotiate contracts with suppliers taking into consideration total cost and service.
Forecast price & market trends to identify changes of balance in buyer/ supplier power.
Track and report key functional metrics to reduce costs & improve effectiveness.
Manage vendor performance through vendor rating and act on poor performance.
Through joint improvement plans and cross functional quarterly reviews ensure we get the best from our key suppliers.
Promote & bring supplier innovation to wider business to ensure we have competitive edge.
Develop key relationships with business stakeholders and strategic supply partners to improve business.
Follow escalation process to highlight any risk to planned production or customer service going forward.
Work jointly on working capital reduction projects such as extending terms, reducing stock held on site both slow moving and redundant.
Deliver agreed PIPS in budget & identify areas to deliver value from allocated categories.
