Full job description

Fibre Engineer - MET Connections

About the role

We're looking for a skilled Fibre Engineer to join our field delivery team. You'll be responsible for the installation, splicing, testing and commissioning of fibre optic networks — taking connections from the network through to live, fully tested services. This is a hands-on, field-based role suited to someone who takes pride in clean workmanship and right-first-time delivery.

Key responsibilities

Install, route and terminate fibre optic cabling across the network. Underground required, overhead capabilities desired also.
Carry out fusion splicing of fibre at joints, cabinets and customer premises.
Test and certify completed work using OTDR, power meters and light sources.
Complete installations to agreed quality, safety and time standards.
Maintain accurate records, as-built documentation and job completion reports.
Work safely in line with all relevant health & safety and streetworks regulations.
Liaise professionally with customers, landowners and colleagues on site.

Requirements

Proven experience in fibre optic installation, splicing and testing.
Confident using fusion splicers, OTDRs and optical test equipment.
Experience in the Openreach PIA network
Strong fault-finding and problem-solving ability.
Full, valid UK driving licence.
Good understanding of health & safety practices on site.
Reliable, self-motivated and able to work as part of a team of two with minimal supervision.
NRSWA / Streetworks accreditation (Unit 002 / O1–O8).

Confined spaces medium preferred
