Jesmond Dene House are seeking an enthusiastic and passionate Pastry Chef de Partie to join our talented pastry kitchen team. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled pastry chef looking to further develop their career within a prestigious hotel environment. Working closely with the Senior Pastry Chef and Executive Chef, you will assist in delivering exceptional desserts, pastries, breads, and afternoon tea offerings while maintaining the high standards and reputation of our kitchen.
The ideal candidate will:
- Have previous experience as a Pastry Chef de Partie, Demi Chef de Partie, or Commis Pastry Chef in a quality hotel, restaurant, or bakery environment
- Be passionate about pastry, desserts, baking, chocolate work, and seasonal ingredients
- Have a strong eye for detail and pride in producing consistently high-quality products
- Be organised, reliable, and able to work efficiently in a busy kitchen environment
- Demonstrate a willingness to learn and develop new skills and techniques
- Work well as part of a team and communicate effectively with colleagues across the kitchen
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, food safety, and presentation at all times
- Remain calm under pressure and be able to manage multiple tasks during busy service periods
Formal culinary qualifications or pastry-related certifications are desirable but not essential. We are looking for someone with enthusiasm, a positive attitude, and a genuine passion for pastry who is eager to grow within a professional kitchen environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and produce a range of desserts, pastries, breads, cakes, and afternoon tea items to the highest standards
- Assist in the preparation and execution of seasonal menus and special events
- Ensure consistency, quality, and presentation across all pastry offerings
- Maintain excellent standards of Health & Safety and Food Hygiene at all times
- Support the Senior Pastry Chef and wider kitchen team during service and preparation periods
- Assist with stock rotation, ordering, and minimising food waste
- Check deliveries and ensure ingredients meet quality standards
- Help maintain a clean, organised, and efficient pastry section
- Support the training and development of junior team members where required
