Full job description

Prescription Clerk / Administrative Assistant

We are looking to recruit a Prescription Clerk / Administrative Assistant to work 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with shifts between 8:00 am and 7:00 pm, plus one Saturday morning every five to six weeks.

Previous experience working in a GP practice is desirable.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing repeat prescription requests from patients, monitoring the Electronic Prescribing Service (EPS) queues and online forms, and acting as the primary point of contact for community pharmacies regarding stock shortages and dispensing queries. The role also includes reviewing prescription queries, processing medication reviews and requests for items outside patients' repeat medication lists, escalating complex clinical issues to the GPs or pharmacist where appropriate, and maintaining accurate patient records using the EMIS clinical system.

The successful applicant will have excellent communication and administrative skills, be able to work independently and use their own initiative, and confidently manage enquiries from patients, clinicians, and pharmacies. Additional responsibilities include document management and undertaking any other administrative duties as required.

Full training will be provided for the successful candidate.

The ideal applicant will be flexible, well presented, organised, and committed to providing excellent customer service.
