Salary: £35,344 actual (£37,152 FTE) (pending cost of living award)
37.5 hours a week, Term Time only – plus inset days & 4 weeks during Easter & August holidays for exam preparation & results and to account for longer days during the exam series (43 working weeks, plus pro rata holiday)
Monday to Friday 7.45am to 3.45pm (Please note that during the main GCSE and A Level examination series you will be required to be flexible due to longer days and possible evenings which can then be claimed back against the additional days in the holidays)

We are seeking an exceptional Exams Officer to lead and manage all aspects of examinations in our large, thriving secondary school with Sixth Form.
This is a pivotal role at the heart of student success—ensuring every exam runs smoothly, every regulation is met, and every student has the best possible experience.

Your main responsibilities will be to plan, coordinate, and oversee all internal and external examinations (GCSEs, A Levels, mocks and end of year exams). You will have line management responsibility for our Assistant Exams Officer and team of Invigilators.
About you
The successful candidate will have:

excellent organisational skills with a meticulous attention to detail
- the ability to manage multiple deadlines and remain calm under pressure
- strong working knowledge of administrative processes and data management
- confidence in handling complex information accurately and efficiently
- excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with staff, students, parents, and external agencies
- a good understanding of (or willingness to learn) JCQ regulations and exam board requirements
- strong IT skills, including experience with management information systems (e.g. Arbor or similar) and Microsoft Office
- the ability to work independently while also contributing positively to a wider team
- high levels of integrity, professionalism, and commitment to confidentiality
- a proactive, solution-focused approach with the ability to problem-solve quickly
- ideally worked in an exams, data or school administration role
- experience of line management
