Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Yard / Sale Assistant to support our busy sales yard and warehouse operations. This role involves assisting with stock management, materials handling, and customer service at our premises. The ideal candidate will have a proactive attitude, physical stamina, and some experience in warehouse or construction environments. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop skills in logistics, warehouse management systems, and heavy lifting within a dynamic team setting.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the organisation and maintenance of the sales yard and storage areas
- Load and unload materials using appropriate equipment such as forklifts
- Handle materials safely and efficiently, ensuring proper storage and inventory control
- Support shipping and receiving activities, including documentation and stock checks
- Operate forklift trucks safely, adhering to health and safety regulations
- Manage stock levels using warehouse management systems (WMS)
- Assist customers with purchases and provide excellent customer service during yard sales
- Conduct routine inspections of equipment and materials to ensure safety standards are met
- Support with basic mechanical tasks or repairs as required in the yard environment
Requirements
- Previous experience in warehouse management or construction environments is desirable
- Valid forklift licence or certification is preferred
- Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) is advantageous
- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting and manual handling tasks regularly
- Good organisational skills with attention to detail
- Mechanical knowledge or understanding of materials handling equipment is beneficial
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities within a fast-paced environment
