Residential Support Worker – Children’s Home

Location: Gloucester
Salary: £34,362 – £36062 (*inclusive of sleep-ins – approx. 7 per month)
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Schedule: Shift work, including some weekends

The Role

As a Residential Support Worker, you will support the Registered Manager and wider team to deliver outstanding care and positive outcomes for children and young people.

Key responsibilities:

Support children to feel safe, valued, and cared for
Build positive, trusting relationships with children, families, and professionals
Help children process past experiences and develop life skills
Promote a calm, structured, and nurturing home environment
Maintain accurate records and reports using IT systems
Support daily routines, activities, and care planning
Work collaboratively as part of a dedicated team

Requirements

Essential:

Full UK Driving Licence (manual), held for at least 12 months
Willingness to work shift patterns, including weekends
Ability to work within a safeguarding and trauma-informed environment

Desirable:

Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) – training can be provided
Experience working with children and young people who have experienced trauma

You will also be:

Patient, resilient, and compassionate
Energetic and proactive in your approach
A strong team player with good communication skills
Committed to improving outcomes for children and young people
