BLUE LINE SPORTS
Ice Hockey & Skating Equipment Distributor
Marketing Coordinator
Part-time (3 days/week) or freelance retainer Royal Wootton Bassett, Swindon Flexible Hours £14k–20k depending on experience
Who we are
Blue Line Sports is one of the UK’s leading distributors of ice hockey, skating and inline hockey equipment. We’re a family-run business based near Swindon, supplying equipment to shops and professional ice hockey teams across the country.
We don’t sell direct to the public — our customers are the shops and teams who rely on us for range, service and expertise, but we do invest in consumer-facing marketing to create demand for our brands.
Why we’re hiring
We’ve reached the point where marketing deserves proper, dedicated attention — and we want someone who can take real ownership of it.
This is a broad, hands-on role. You’ll be working across two distinct areas: consumer-facing social media and content (to build brand awareness with hockey players), and trade marketing materials (to help our retail and team customers sell our products more effectively).
What you’ll actually be doing
Consumer & social media:
- Managing and growing our social media channels — building an engaged audience of hockey players, figure skaters and enthusiasts across the brands we distribute
- Creating content that drives awareness and demand: product features, brand stories etc
- Managing email campaigns via marketing communication channels to our customer base
- Assist in taking product photo’s ready for promotional material
Trade marketing materials:
- Designing and producing POS materials
- Creating and updating product catalogues
- Promoting individual product lines
- Keeping our B2B site fresh & interesting
- Managing brand assets and logos, particularly for custom and bespoke product ranges
What we’re looking for
The most important thing: you’re a self-starter who can take a brief and run with it.
Beyond that:
- Strong graphic design skills — you can produce professional marketing assets independently (Canva Pro is fine; Adobe Creative Suite is a bonus)
- Confident managing social media for a niche or enthusiast community — you understand what engages a passionate audience, not just how to schedule posts
- Knowledge of email marketing tools
- Good copywriter - you write clearly, in plain English, in a tone that fits the sport
- Organised and detail-oriented — you can manage multiple brands and campaigns without things slipping
- A genuine interest in sport, ideally ice hockey, figure skating or a similarly passionate niche
You don’t need to
- Have worked in ice hockey before — but you do need to be willing to learn the sport, the brands and the UK structure
- Be a marketing strategist — direction comes from the directors; we need someone brilliant at execution
- Have experience in wholesale or B2B — although it’s helpful
What makes this role different
This isn't a typical marketing role:
You'll be working directly with the owners of a specialist sports business, helping shape how our products, brands and services are presented to retailers, teams and players across the UK.
One day you might be taking product photos, the next creating an email for a product launch or improving product content on our website and B2B platform.
We're looking for someone who enjoys variety, likes getting things done, and wants to see the direct impact of their work rather than being a small part of a large marketing department. You will have space to contribute ideas & direction of the role
