Job brief
We are looking for an Assistant to our Housekeeping Manager to support them in leading our team of cleaners and ensuring we provide excellent standards to our guests.
The role involves helping the Housekeeping Manager with all aspects of their position, including organising employee shifts, training and motivating team members, and checking Holiday Homes for cleanliness and presentation standards throughout. To be successful in this role, you should have a good understanding of cleaning standards for holiday homes and team management abilities.
Ultimately, you will support the Housekeeping Manager to ensure our daily housekeeping operations run smoothly and that guests are satisfied.
Flexibility of hours is important during peak and off-peak times, and your duties may also change during these periods to meet the needs of the business.
Responsibilities
· Help train housekeepers on cleaning and maintenance tasks
· Support the Housekeeping Manager in overseeing staff on a daily basis
· Check rooms and common areas, including stairways and lounge areas, for cleanliness
· Help schedule shifts and arrange for replacements in cases of absence, including employed and contractor cleaners
· Support the recruitment of new staff
· Assist with the management of contracted cleaning companies
· Help establish and educate staff on cleanliness, tidiness and hygiene standards
· Help motivate team members and resolve any issues that occur on the job
· Support the Housekeeping Manager in responding to customer complaints and special requests
· Monitor and replenish cleaning products stock
· Participate in large cleaning projects as required
· Support compliance with safety and sanitation policies in all areas
Requirements and skills
· Work experience as a Housekeeper/cleaner or similar role to a senior position
· Hands-on experience with cleaning tasks, as you will need to lead by example
· Ability to use industrial cleaning equipment and products
· Excellent organisational and team management skills
· Stamina to handle the physical demands of the job
· Flexibility to work various shifts, including Bank Holidays and weekends. Availability to work during school holidays is essential
· Competent in using Microsoft Office and mobile applications
Hours and Pay
Minimum 15 hours a week, rising to 25+ hours per week during peak time.
Hourly rate dependent on experience.
