We are seeking an enthusiastic, team-orientated Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our team at Island Veterinary Associates on a full-time, 12-month fixed-term contract.
Island Veterinary Associates is a friendly and welcoming practice with an experienced team working across our Wombourne and Gornal sites. This is a varied role offering the opportunity to support clinical work across both branches, delivering high standards of patient and client care.
Wombourne is the larger of the two sites and operates as a 2-vet practice, with x-ray, ultrasound and laboratory facilities. Gornal is a busy 1-vet practice running vet and nurse clinics alongside routine procedures, and is equipped with laboratory facilities.

As a Registered Veterinary Nurse, you will be an integral member of the clinical team, delivering high-quality nursing care to patients while supporting excellent client experiences.
You’ll work collaboratively with veterinary surgeons and the wider practice team, taking responsibility for the nursing care of a range of first opinion cases, contributing to clinical standards, and supporting the ongoing development of patient care within the practice.
Working Pattern
- 4-day working week, 8:15am to 7:15pm, with a 1-hour lunch break set day off on a Tuesday
- 1 in 4 Saturday mornings at our Wombourne site, 8:30am to 12:30pm Time back in the week is given for Saturdays worked
- 12-month fixed-term contract
General Responsibilities
- Deliver high standards of nursing care across a varied first opinion caseload
- Support surgical procedures, including anaesthesia monitoring and theatre nursing
- Run nurse clinics and contribute to preventative healthcare and client education
- Assist with diagnostics, including laboratory work, x-ray and ultrasound support
We’re looking for a confident and motivated Registered Veterinary Nurse who enjoys working as part of a team and delivering high standards of care. You’ll bring:
- Registration as a Veterinary Nurse with the RCVS
- Experience working in clinical practice, with growing confidence in medical and surgical nursing
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with clients and colleagues
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage workload effectively
- A proactive approach to learning, reflection, and continuous improvement
