About the Role

You will work on large-scale automated systems, PLC-controlled equipment, and bulk handling machinery within a fast-paced port environment.
This is an opportunity to play a key role in maintaining and improving critical plant performance, ensuring safe and efficient operations across the site.
What You’ll Be Doing
Carry out detailed statutory inspections and produce compliant reports in line with current legislation, site standards and engineering best practice, ensuring all electrical and control systems meet regulatory requirements. Responsibility for conducting, verifying and documenting complex electrical isolations within a permit-to-work system. Inspect, fault-find, maintain and repair a wide range of heavy industrial equipment including ship loading systems, handling equipment, conveyor networks and associated switchgear. Utilise tools such as root cause analysis (RCA) and mean time between failure (MTBF) to investigate recurring faults, implement long-term solutions and improve plant reliability. Plan and prioritise maintenance activities based on shift reports, plant condition and operational requirements, ensuring work is executed efficiently and safely. Work closely with operations and engineering teams to minimise downtime, providing clear, timely feedback on equipment condition, emerging issues and completed work. Respond independently to breakdowns and plant issues under pressure. Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in equipment performance, safety and working practices. Manage parts, consumables and tooling responsibly, ensuring efficient use of resources.
What We’re Looking For
Time-served EC&I Technician with a strong electrical background
Experience in industrial, manufacturing, process, or heavy engineering environments
Knowledge of PLCs, instrumentation, and control systems
Strong fault-finding skills across electrical and automated systems
Desirable:
- Experience in heavy industry, ports, mining, or bulk handling
- Knowledge of SCADA / DCS systems
- IOSH or safety qualification
