About the Role
As Civils Labourer at Serconnect, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Civils infrastructure projects. Reporting to the Civils Manager and onsite Civils Chargehand, your role will be to assist with site preparation, traffic management, and reinstatement work, ensuring all tasks align with safety regulations and quality standards.
About you
We are seeking a reliable and physically fit Civils Labourer to join our Civils construction team. The successful candidate will assist with a variety of site activities, supporting the smooth progression of all our projects. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience in the utilities and renewable energy industry while contributing to important infrastructure developments.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Site preparation: clearing, digging, and levelling ground for construction work.
- Material handling: loading, unloading, and transporting construction materials.
- Site maintenance: cleaning, tidying, and ensuring safety on the site.
- Specialist tasks: assisting with utility installation work, foundations, concreting, brickwork.
- Use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Maintain site cleanliness and general housekeeping duties.
- Support plant operators and other trades as required.
- Follow instructions from supervisors and site management.
- Interpreting civils designs and help to ensure works are built to specification.
Health and Safety Responsibilities
- Adhere to all Serconnect, client and industry safety procedures, including wearing the mandatory personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Report any accidents, incidents, or near-misses to the Civils Manager and HSEQ team
- Follow all relevant risk assessments and method statements.
Experience
- Previous experience in an operational, fleet, engineering or construction environment is desirable, but not essential; training will be provided
- Good physical fitness with the ability to perform manual labour for extended periods
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in outdoor environments
Skills and Qualifications
- Basic understanding of health and safety procedures on construction sites is desirable, but not mandatory as full training will be provided.
- Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to different tasks as needed
- Hold a full UK driving licence (essential)
- Hold an Energy and Utility Skills Register (EUSR) card (desirable)
- Hold a current Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card (desirable)
- Hold an Emergency First Aid certification (desirable)

Hours of Work
Monday to Friday, 45 hours per week, 07:30-17:00 (5pm).
Overtime opportunities available, where required.
Your Pay
Pay is dependent on age, experience and skills, which are outlined in the job description. Successful applicants aged 16-17, the starting salary will be £18,720, ages 18-20, your starting salary will be £25,389 and age 21 and over, your starting salary will be £29,741 per annum, dependent on skills, experience and qualifications already obtained. Full training will be provided and overtime is available.
