Overview
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Grounds Maintenance Manager to oversee the upkeep and enhancement of our outdoor spaces. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in landscape maintenance, horticulture, and construction, with the ability to lead a team in maintaining high standards of safety, aesthetics, and functionality. Duties
- Supervise and coordinate daily grounds maintenance activities, including mowing, pruning, planting, and fertilising.
- Operate and maintain machinery such as excavators, power tools, and irrigation systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Plan and execute landscape projects, including construction of features like pathways, retaining walls, or water features.
- Conduct regular inspections to identify maintenance needs or hazards and implement appropriate solutions.
- Manage inventory of hand tools, power tools, horticultural supplies, and construction materials.
- Lead a team of grounds staff by providing training on equipment use, safety procedures, and horticultural practices.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations across all activities.
- Liaise with clients or management to plan maintenance schedules that minimise disruption while maintaining aesthetic standards.
Skills
- Proven experience in landscape maintenance, gardening, horticulture or related fields.
- Mechanical knowledge relevant to operating and repairing equipment such as excavators and power tools.
- Proficiency in using hand tools for gardening and construction tasks.
- Strong understanding of irrigation systems installation and maintenance.
- Ability to undertake general maintenance tasks including repairs to structures or equipment.
- Knowledge of construction principles relevant to outdoor projects.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Leadership qualities with experience in supervising teams effectively.
