HGV Class 1 Drivers- Walking Floor/ Tanker/ Low Loader

J&M Murdoch & Son Ltd | Neilston

Looking for a stable Class 1 driving role with overtime opportunities, a modern fleet and long-term career prospects?

Due to continued growth and expansion, J&M Murdoch & Son Ltd are recruiting HGV Class 1 Drivers to join our family business and support our operations across Scotland.

As a family-run business with over 60 years of experience within waste management, recycling and haulage, we take pride in the reputation we have built across the industry. Job Role

Class 1 Driver

Location: Neilston

Hours: 40 hours per week + overtime paid after 40 hours

Shift Pattern: Day Shift with occasional Night Shift requirements

As part of our wider transport operations, we also operate across:

Walking Floor
Tanker
Low Loader
Waste Management & Recycling Operations
General Haulage

Experience within any of the above operations would be advantageous; however, training and ongoing development opportunities may be available for the right candidates.

Duties & Responsibilities

Load and unload vehicles for customers in a safe and timely manner
Comply with all road traffic laws and vehicle legislation
Complete daily vehicle checks and maintain tachograph compliance
Communicate effectively with transport and operational teams to support efficient collections and deliveries
Positively represent the business by continuously following Company policies and procedures
Deliver excellent customer service whilst carrying out all duties
Maintain high standards of health, safety and vehicle compliance at all times
Support smooth and efficient day-to-day transport operations
Have a sound knowledge of local areas and routes
Work in a safe, reliable and efficient manner at all times

Qualifications, Licences & Skills

Valid HGV Class 1 (Category C+E) licence
Valid Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (Driver CPC)
Valid Digital Tachograph Card
Previous experience operating Walking Floor, Tanker or Low Loader vehicles would be advantageous
Good understanding of driver hours, tachograph and vehicle compliance regulations
Excellent customer service and communication skills
A professional, reliable and safety-focused approach
Ability to work independently and as part of a wider operational team
Good geographical knowledge and route awareness

Applicants must have the appropriate licences and legal entitlement to drive Class 1 vehicles within the UK.
