Main duties, tasks & skills required
As a qualified Physician Associate (PA), post holders will be an integral part of the medical team, and the wider multidisciplinary team in the provision of a high quality, patient centred service, participating in all aspects of the team's activities as appropriate.
The PA will be expected to perform delegated duties with a high degree of clinical skill and knowledge and to assist in clinical teaching and supervision of colleagues and students. They will be required to assess and examine patients, presenting their findings, initiate and interpret investigations, and recommend treatment within a defined scope.
They will be expected to liaise with other professionals and specialities as required and complete accurate and appropriate documentation relating to their patients.
There will be a focus on acquiring further skills and expert knowledge in the relevant specialty field. As such, Physician Associates will be supervised by a designated physician who will support both career development and clinical interests, with the aim of expanding clinical proficiency and (further) building leadership skills.
