Feltonfleet Enterprises is excited to present our newest early year’s provision opening in Autumn 2026, offering a vibrant, exciting and inspiring environment for girls and boys aged from 6 months to 4 years.
Our Nursery will be open from 7.30am - 6.00 pm, 51 weeks a year to meet the needs of busy working parents.
Our approach is all about learning through play, following your child’s interests and using natural, authentic resources.
We are looking to recruit Nursery Room Leaders to support in the delivery of this vision and provide an exceptional level of care to all our Little Doves.
Role Purpose
The Room Leader will be responsible for leading the day-to-day operation of a designated Nursery room, ensuring the highest standards of care, learning and development for children aged 6 months to 4 years.
The successful candidate will create a warm, nurturing and stimulating environment where children feel safe, secure and valued. They will lead and support colleagues within their room, ensuring outstanding practice, strong safeguarding standards and positive relationships with families.
As part of the Nursery leadership team, the Room Leader will play an important role in establishing and maintaining a culture of excellence across the Nursery, helping to ensure every child receives exceptional care and learning opportunities.
Key areas of responsibility
Leadership within the room
- Lead the day-to-day operation of the designated Nursery room.
- Act as a role model for high-quality early years practice.
- Support, guide and mentor practitioners working within the room.
- Assist with the induction and development of new staff, apprentices and students.
- Ensure staff are effectively deployed throughout the day.
- Promote a positive, collaborative and professional team culture.
- Work closely with the Deputy Nursery Manager and Nursery Manager to maintain high standards throughout the Nursery.
Care, Learning and Development
- Provide exceptional care for babies, toddlers or pre-school children, depending on room allocation.
- Create a warm, nurturing and welcoming environment where children can thrive.
- Support children in forming secure attachments and positive relationships.
- Deliver a high-quality EYFS curriculum through engaging, age-appropriate experiences.
- Promote children's curiosity, independence, confidence and wellbeing.
- Plan and implement activities that support children's individual development.
- Ensure children have regular opportunities for outdoor learning and exploration.
- Support children's transitions both within the Nursery and beyond.
Baby & Toddler Care
- Ensure individual care routines are followed consistently.
- Support feeding, sleeping, nappy changing and personal care routines with sensitivity and professionalism.
- Work closely with parents to understand and respond to each child's individual needs.
- Monitor children's wellbeing and developmental milestones.
- Maintain detailed records of children's care and development as required.
Key Person Responsibilities
- Act as Key Person for a group of children.
- Build strong relationships with children and their families.
- Complete observations, assessments and learning records.
- Monitor children's progress and identify any additional support needs.
- Share information regularly with parents regarding children's learning, development and wellbeing.
- Support settling-in processes and transitions.
Safeguarding & Welfare
- Promote and maintain the highest standards of safeguarding and child protection.
- Ensure all safeguarding concerns are reported promptly and appropriately.
- Maintain a safe, secure and stimulating environment.
- Follow all Nursery safeguarding, health and safety and welfare procedures.
- Support risk assessments and daily safety checks.
Parent Partnerships
- Develop positive and professional relationships with parents and carers.
- Communicate effectively regarding children's development and wellbeing.
- Support parent meetings, events and Nursery activities.
- Promote a welcoming and inclusive environment for all families.
- Respond to routine parental queries professionally and sensitively.
Operational Responsibilities
- Ensure the room is organised, well-resourced and maintained to a high standard.
- Monitor resources and identify replenishment needs.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation.
- Support compliance with EYFS requirements and Nursery policies.
- Contribute to inspections, audits and quality improvement activities.

Wider Nursery Contribution
- Contribute positively to the development of the Nursery as a whole.
- Participate in staff meetings, training and professional development.
- Support Nursery events, open mornings and family activities.
- Act as an ambassador for the Nursery and School.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties consistent with the role.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Full and relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification.
- Qualification recognised by Ofsted and EYFS requirements.
- Paediatric First Aid qualification (or willingness to obtain).
- Safeguarding training appropriate to the role.
- Experience working within a nursery or early years setting.
- Experience caring for children aged 6 months to 4 years.
- Experience as a Key Person.
- Experience planning activities in line with the EYFS framework.
- Experience supporting colleagues and promoting high standards of practice.
- Excellent understanding of child development from infancy through to school readiness.
- Strong knowledge of the EYFS framework.
- Understanding of attachment theory and child-centred practice.
- Ability to lead and motivate colleagues within the room.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organisational skills.

Desirable
- Experience leading a nursery room.
- Experience working with babies under two years old.
- Level 4 or Level 5 Early Years qualification.
- Experience within an independent school nursery.

Pay: £30,000.00-£36,000.00 per year
