Food Production Technical Assistant
Basic Salary : £26,500.00 -£ 27,500.00 per annum dependent on skills, knowledge and experience.
Permanent: A full time role, working Tuesday to Saturday (40 Hour Week).
Hours of Work: 8.00am to Finish (Some flexibility to working pattern to cover holidays as necessary and start and finish times based on production demands.)
Location: Hooton Street, Carlton Road, Nottingham, NG3 2NJ
Working Environment: Predominately based in a climate-controlled environment.

About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Technical Assistant based at Hooton Street, Nottingham.
Working flexibly within the Technical, Production and Goods Inwards Departments at Hooton Street, you will be responsible for hands-on operational support ensuring adherence of quality and technical procedures and managing the Goods Intake and Quality Control Processes of our Raw Materials.
You will also be responsible for:
- Conducting daily safety compliance checks during production and to finished products and review paperwork for accurate and correct completion.
- Conducting quality checks on goods arriving (food and non-food) including weights and counts as appropriate and dry matter testing and batch coding of materials upon intake, including origin and printing of labels.
- Conducting personal and equipment hygiene checks to ensure compliance.
- Assisting in the investigation of customer complaints and raw material/ product traces.
- Supporting the updating of site information boards.
- Completion of internal audits against HACCP, GMP, SOP’s, and the BRCGS Global Standard for Food Safety and Customer Codes of Practice as well as assisting and participating in on-site customer visits and audits.
- Collect/ take necessary material, finished product or water/ ice samples for micro or chemistry analysis, or conduct swabbing of personnel hands and equipment and book in on the online laboratory system.
- Communicating with suppliers and buyers on a daily basis as required and the raising of non-conformances as appropriate to suppliers and the buying team.
- Completion of system paperwork as requested and generation and updating of system paperwork.
About You
You will be a team player and have a hands-on/ “can do” attitude.
The successful candidate must be able to work at extremely high standards, follow processes and procedures and be thorough with all paperwork and documentation.
You will be highly organised, able to multi-task and work to strict deadlines and under pressure and have an excellent eye for detail.
Good IT and communication skills are an essential part of this role.
Skills and Qualifications
- Previous experience in QA and/ or raw materials/ produce would be desirable, but not essential as full training will be provided.
- Good level of written and spoken English essential.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A good level of numeracy.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Excellent personal organisational skills.
- A satisfactory level of computer skills.
