Full job description

Games Workshop has an exciting opportunity for a General Ledger Accountant, initially on a 12-month contract. We’re looking for someone passionate about delivering an efficient and effective accounting service, using their skills day in and day out to make Games Workshop even better!

With a strong attention to detail, you’ll prepare and review the balance sheet and profit and loss accounts, ensuring thorough reconciliations that meet audit standards. You’ll also support the preparation of monthly, half year, and year-end accounts, ensuring submission of final figures to the group reporting team for consolidation.

Taking a methodical approach, you’ll need to navigate through financial complexity ensuring you constantly strive for integrity and accuracy within our accounting records.

We’re looking for someone with an inquisitive nature as you will need to understand your business area so commercial acumen combined with an ability to understand key business drivers within a complex setting will be key. We’ll rely on you to focus on continuous improvement, addressing systematic issues that may impact the ledger integrity by collaborating with IT and other departments.

You’ll be comfortable communicating effectively with staff at all levels of the business, being an excellent problem solver with a can-do attitude, and having both the ability to work independently and as part of a team. One of these teams will be Stock and Costing where you will be expected to help provide support as and when needed.

Ideally, a qualified accountant with an in-depth understanding of balance sheet accounts and reconciliations, you’ll previously have worked within management accounting, financial accounting, or financial auditing. You’ll have a strong proficiency in Excel ideally with knowledge of Sage and D365.
