You could join our Rolling Stock Delivery team supporting and delivering the most prestigious rail projects across the UK. You would work at all levels on some of the most significant rail projects such as HS2, Elizabeth Line and the East Coast Digital Programme, providing strategic and technical advice to national and local government bodies, train leasing companies, financiers, train operators and manufacturers.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Engineer/Consultant to work with our respected group of rolling stock specialists who solve problems for rail projects at all levels of the industry ranging from heritage fleets to freight and new build passenger rolling stock. Our provision varies from project to project fulfilling strategic, technical and commercial roles, in main line freight and passenger, metro and light rail projects throughout the industry supporting new build and legacy rolling stock throughout the lifetime of the asset. Familiarity with rolling stock is desired, but not essential if you bring other relevant qualities to the role, gained either in other industries or other areas within the rail industry. Our strength is in the mixed ability and experience of the team.
This role offers the chance to deliver expert advice and guidance on a wide range of projects for both peers and external clients. You will use various consultancy skills, such as engineering judgement, commercial awareness and stakeholder management to serve our diverse client base.
Providing high quality rail consultancy services to clients across a range of requirements. Often working independently or within a client team, you may also be required to work within a functional group, or independently, or on large or small assignments and on key projects. You will act as a source of knowledge and capability in our work delivery and also assist with the generation of new business for our team.

To provide high quality advice and deliverables to UK and international clients, both as an individual or through your contribution within a team, leading some elements.

To lead and/or be part of a team delivering complex projects and assignments. Contribute to existing and new work generated by other consultants as necessary, including supporting checking and review of deliverables.

Example work activities
The role does not require applicants with experience in all the following areas, these are provided as examples of the projects you could be supporting us in:

Working on a variety of technical studies which may involve new rolling stock or refurbishments, maintenance and servicing considerations for existing fleets, building and expanding from your existing knowledge. Your work may be main line freight or passenger, metro and light rail projects.

Working on rolling stock considerations in often varied and diverse aspects requiring flexibility and willingness in your approach, whilst adhering to safety, due governance and client requirements. This could include contractual/commercial support of ongoing technical projects such as fleet fitment programmes, or technical specification and requirements management of rolling stock, depots and infrastructure projects.

Supporting emerging requirements of modern railways, in areas such as carbon reduction strategies, alternative propulsion projects (eg, battery/hydrogen), or digital projects such as ETCS implementation.

Have a good understanding of freight, main line passenger, metro or light rail rolling stock, rolling stock whole life care, or the railway system and/or regulation, or having identifiable and transferable skills that match the demands of the job description.

Perhaps your experience is in manufacturing, or maintenance and depots, perhaps an operator or maybe an owner. Your skills, knowledge and experience in the UK and overseas could be key to us.

Preferably a degree qualified Chartered Engineer, however we are open to any candidate who evidences the right skills, relevant experience and aptitude.

Have drive, flexibility and the ability to adapt to clients demands and requirements.

Good communication and presentation skills, and the ability to write clear and concise text.
