Highway Assurance are a Traffic Management, Reactive and Civil Engineering company based across East Anglia, with our head office in Barham, Suffolk.

We are seeking an experienced fitter to join our team to look after and maintain up to 110 (3.5t) vans and willing to train on HGV. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnostics, repairs, general maintenance of company vehicles, and attending breakdowns on-site when required.
Looking to move into workshop facilities in the Colchester area in the very near future with the opportunity to be trained as a class 7 MOT tester.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out diagnostics and fault finding on our van fleet with some HGV
- Perform repairs, servicing, and routine maintenance on company vehicles
- Attend vehicle breakdowns on-site and complete emergency repairs
- Conduct preventative maintenance to minimise vehicle downtime
- Ensure all vehicles are maintained to roadworthy and safety standards
- Complete maintenance records and job documentation accurately
- Work independently in both workshop and mobile environments
- Prepare vehicles for MOT
Requirements
- Proven experience working on vans is essential
- Strong diagnostic and mechanical repair skills
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and respond to breakdown callouts
- Good understanding of vehicle maintenance procedures and safety standards
- Full UK driving licence required
Desirable
- Relevant mechanical qualifications or certifications
- Roadside or mobile breakdown repairs advantageous but not essential
- HGV licence advantageous but not essential. Training for the right person considered.
- Own tools advantageous but not essential
