Transport planner position now available at a rapidly expanding logistics company.
After experiencing solid organic growth throughout the last year and through a successful acquisition of a competitor, Marshalls Logistics is looking for an assistant transport coordinator to work alongside the existing traffic team to assist with day-to-day traffic operations. Must work well with our current team of office staff and drivers.
Candidates must:
Have experience with planning Articulated vehicles . Have an outgoing, problem-solving mindset with the ability to prioritize tasks in accordance with the day’s events. They must be comfortable working with colleagues, customers, third party subcontractors, and management. Be able to deal with several situations concurrently.
Possess strong verbal and written communication.
Be computer literacy and familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Word & Outlook is a must. Training will be provided for company specific software.
3PL experience is welcomed as some of the work is subcontracted, but not essential.
The candidate must be service orientated with a passion for a high level of customer service and operational performance.
Details of the role:
The role will report directly to the transport manager and combined will be responsible for the assignment of more than 60 loads per day.
Working hours are Monday to Friday 0800-1700 with an hour lunch break.
Key tasks include but are not limited to:
- Fleet planning, allocation of loads to trucks.
· Booking jobs with customers and keying into system
· Arranging PMI's and defect rectification for fleet (time schedules issues by Transport Manager)
· Assigning loads to subcontractors where appropriate
· Managing customers’ needs through good operational performance along with providing ETAs, assisting any queries and any other reporting required. Notification of delays is key!
· Dealing with any issues that may arise with drivers / subcontractors.
· Planning and organising of driver’s daily runs
· General office administrative duties to support traffic department.
