ABOUT HORIZON HOLIDAY PARKS
Horizon Holiday Parks is a premier operator of holiday parks across Scotland, offering guests exceptional outdoor experiences set against some of the country's most stunning landscapes. Our parks feature lodges, static caravans, touring pitches, and premium outdoor amenity areas — all maintained to the highest standards. We are proud of our commitment to quality, and our decking and outdoor spaces play a central role in the guest experience we deliver.
THE ROLE
We are looking for a skilled and experienced Decking Fitter to join our Estates team on a travelling basis, covering our portfolio of holiday parks throughout Scotland. You will be responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of both timber and uPVC decking across our sites — working to a high standard that reflects the Horizon brand and ensures the safety and satisfaction of our guests and owners.
This is a road-based role. You will travel between parks as required, with overnight stays away from home being a routine part of the position. A company vehicle will be provided, along with a travel and accommodation allowance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Installation: Supply and fit timber (pressure-treated softwood, hardwood, composite) and uPVC decking to new and existing holiday homes, lodges, and communal areas across Scotland parks.
· Repair & Maintenance: Carry out structural and cosmetic repairs to existing decking installations, including board replacement, joist repair, balustrade work, and anti-slip treatments.
· Survey & Assessment: Inspect existing decking structures, identify defects or safety concerns, and produce clear condition reports for the Maintenance Manager.
· Quality & Finish: Ensure all work is completed to a consistently high standard, with clean edges, correctly spaced boards, secure fixings, and a finish appropriate for a premium holiday park environment.
· Health & Safety: Work in full compliance with company health and safety policies, conducting risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) for each job as required.
· Materials Management: Accurately estimate materials needed for each job, manage stock carried in your vehicle, and report requirements to the procurement team in a timely manner.
· Communication: Liaise professionally with park managers, owners, and guests when on site; keep the Maintenance Manager updated on progress, issues, and timescales.
· Lone Working: Operate confidently and independently across multiple sites, managing your own schedule in coordination with the Estates team.
· Handover & Documentation: Complete job sheets, take before-and-after photographs, and ensure all completed work is signed off correctly.
SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
Essential
· Proven, hands-on experience as a decking fitter or carpenter, with a strong portfolio of completed decking projects.
· Demonstrable experience working with both wooden (softwood, hardwood, or composite) and uPVC decking systems.
· Ability to read and work from drawings, specifications, and measurements.
· Competent use of hand and power tools relevant to decking installation.
· Full, clean UK driving licence — essential for this travelling role.
· Sound understanding of health and safety legislation applicable to construction and maintenance trades.
· Self-motivated, organised, and able to manage time effectively across multiple sites.
· Good communication skills and a professional, customer-facing manner.
Desirable
· NVQ Level 2 or above in Carpentry, Joinery, or a related trade.
· CSCS card (Blue Skilled Worker or above).
· Experience working in a holiday park, leisure, or hospitality maintenance environment.
· First Aid at Work certificate.
· Experience carrying out structural timber assessments or condition surveys.
· IPAF or working-at-height certification.
WHAT WE OFFER
· Competitive salary, reviewed annually.
· Company vehicle provided for all work travel.
· Overnight accommodation allowance for multi-day site visits.
· Fuel card for all work-related travel.
· 28 days annual leave (including public holidays).
· Company pension scheme.
· Access to staff discounts across Horizon Holiday Parks.
· Ongoing training and development opportunities.
· A supportive team culture with real scope for career progression within a growing company.
