GENERAL MANAGER - HEAD OF OPERATONS

About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced General Manager to lead the day to day operations of a successful, manufacturer approved accident repair centre.
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for the overall performance of the business, ensuring operational excellence, profitability, customer satisfaction, manufacturer compliance and staff development across all departments.
This is a hands on leadership role requiring a commercially focused individual with strong operational, financial and people management experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Full responsibility for the day to day operation of the business across all departments.
- Drive profitability, productivity and operational performance across all departments.
- Work within budgets, forecasting, financial reporting and KPI delivery.
- Oversee workshop loading, repair progression and vehicle throughput.
- Ensure exceptional customer service standards are maintained throughout the customer journey.
- Manage relationships with insurers, accident management companies, fleet operators and key stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with manufacturer approvals, BSI standards and industry regulations.
- Develop department leaders and team members through coaching, training and performance management.
- Monitor and improve operational processes to maximise efficiency and profitability.
- Oversee quality control procedures and ensure repairs are completed to the highest standards.
- Manage health and safety compliance across the business.
- Support recruitment, succession planning and employee development.
- Analyse business performance data and implement improvement strategies where required.
- Maintain strong relationships with manufacturer partners and network providers.
- Ensure effective stock control, supplier management and cost management processes are maintained.
- Lead operational meetings and communicate business objectives clearly throughout the organisation.
Skills & Experience Required
- Previous experience as a General Manager, Operations Manager, Bodyshop Manager or similar leadership role.
- Strong commercial awareness with proven P&L responsibility.
- Experience within the accident repair, automotive or vehicle repair sector.
- Excellent leadership and people management skills.
- Strong understanding of operational KPIs and business performance management.
- Experience working with insurers, manufacturer approvals and industry compliance standards.
- Ability to drive continuous improvement and deliver measurable business results.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Pay: £35,000.00-£55,000.00 per year
