Water Hygiene Engineer

Location: London and surrounding areas
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Stay Away: Regular stay-away work required (minimum of 2 nights per week, although this may vary)

As a rapidly expanding, family-run business, we deliver high-quality water hygiene, Legionella compliance, water treatment and remedial services to clients across the UK, ranging from care homes and schools to hospitals, commercial premises and industrial sites.

Due to continued growth, we are looking to recruit an experienced Water Hygiene Engineer to join our team, covering sites predominantly across London and the surrounding areas, with occasional travel further afield.

The Role

As a Water Hygiene Engineer, you will play a key role in helping our clients remain compliant with current legislation and industry guidance.

Working independently, you will carry out a wide variety of water hygiene tasks while representing H2O Hygiene professionally on client sites.

This position involves regular stay-away work, with a minimum expectation of two nights per week, although this may not be required every week. Applicants must therefore be comfortable travelling and working nationwide when required.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out water hygiene monitoring and maintenance in accordance with ACoP L8 and HSG274
Hot and cold water temperature monitoring
Thermostatic Mixing Valve (TMV) inspection and servicing
Cold Water Storage Tank (CWST) inspections
Hot Water Storage Vessel (HWSV) inspections
Showerhead and outlet cleaning and disinfection
Collection of water samples for laboratory analysis
Cleaning and disinfection (C&D) of domestic water systems
Accurate completion of electronic service reports using tablet-based systems
Communicate professionally with clients and site representatives
Escalate site issues and non-conformances to the Operations Team
Ensure all works are completed safely and in line with company procedures

Essential Requirements

Previous experience working as a Water Hygiene Engineer
Good understanding of:
ACoP L8
HSG274
Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations
Experience carrying out cleaning and disinfection of water systems
Full UK Driving Licence
Ability to work independently and manage your own workload
Willingness to travel and stay away from home when required
Strong communication and customer service skills

Desirable Skills and Experience

TMV servicing experience
Experience within healthcare environments
Plumbing or remedial experience
Additional water hygiene qualifications or certifications
Knowledge of closed systems and water treatment
