Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Project and Finance Manager who will have overall responsibility for the planning, coordination, financial management, and successful delivery of the Roma Project at Davren Community Solutions. The successful candidate will ensure that Roma cultural, linguistic, and historical heritage remains at the heart of all project activities, outputs, and decision-making.
The role involves overseeing day-to-day project operations, managing staff and volunteers, coordinating partnerships with schools and community organisations, and ensuring activities are delivered on time and within budget. The Project and Finance Manager will also be responsible for monitoring expenditure, maintaining accurate financial records, preparing budgets and financial reports, and ensuring compliance with funder requirements.
Working closely with the organisation’s directors , the postholder will lead on project planning, performance monitoring, risk management, and reporting to funders. This role requires strong leadership, organisational, and financial management skills, along with a commitment to promoting inclusion, preserving Roma heritage, and delivering meaningful community impact.
Duties
- Lead the overall delivery of the Roma Heritage Project, ensuring all activities are completed on time and to a high standard.
- Manage and coordinate heritage events, educational workshops, CPD sessions, and the development of the Roma Dictionary.
- Ensure Roma history, language, culture, and lived experiences are meaningfully embedded throughout all project activities and outputs.
- Work closely with Roma community members, elders, and cultural advisors to ensure authenticity, cultural accuracy, and sensitivity.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive project plan, including timelines, milestones, and key deliverables.
- Coordinate the work of staff, volunteers, facilitators, schools, and partner organisations.
- Line manage and provide day-to-day supervision and support to the Engagement Officer.
- Support the recruitment, coordination, and effective involvement of volunteers.
- Prepare detailed activity budgets and submit them to the Director responsible for finance for approval.
- Monitor project delivery against approved budgets, ensuring expenditure remains within agreed limits.
- Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation.
- Ensure value for money and compliance with all funder terms and conditions.
- Collect and analyse data relating to participation, learning outcomes, and project impact.
- Prepare progress reports, monitoring returns, and contributions to the final project evaluation.
- Work with Directors to document and share key learning, achievements, and heritage outcomes.
- Maintain and regularly update a live project risk register.
- Ensure safeguarding, health and safety, and data protection requirements are fully met.
- Identify and respond proactively to project risks and operational challenges.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with schools, community organisations, and strategic partners.
- Represent Davren Community Solutions at meetings, events, and stakeholder forums.
- Promote equality, diversity, inclusion, and community cohesion throughout all aspects of project delivery.

- Knowledge of safeguarding, health and safety, and data protection requirements.
- Competent in using Microsoft Office and other digital tools for planning and reporting.
Desirable Skills
- Experience working with Roma, Gypsy, Roma and Traveller (GRT), or other marginalised communities.
- Fluent in the Romani language.
- Knowledge and understanding of intangible cultural heritage, including language, oral history, traditions, and customs.
- Experience developing community-based educational resources, such as dictionaries or heritage materials.
- Experience working with schools, colleges, and educational settings.
- Understanding of Roma history, culture, and lived experiences.
- Experience delivering heritage-focused workshops and cultural events.
Pay: £31,559.00 per year
