Full job description

Sonno is a UK ecommerce manufacturer and retailer of beds and mattresses. We manufacture core ranges in-house, sell through Shopify, invest materially across Google, Meta and TikTok, and are expanding our imported product range. We are now creating a UK-led Marketing & Ecommerce Division and looking for the senior operator who will own it.

This is not a communications-only role and it is not a narrow acquisition role. You will own the complete online commercial system: brand, ecommerce trading, performance, CRO, product content, CRM, agencies, team and contribution. You will inherit meaningful activity and supplier support, then build the internal leadership and specialist capability needed for the next stage.

What you will own

● The three-year Marketing & Ecommerce direction, annual plan, quarterly priorities and total budget.

● The ecommerce revenue and contribution forecast, in partnership with Finance and Operations.

● Shopify trading, merchandising, product launches, conversion, AOV and customer journey.

● Customer acquisition across Google, Meta, TikTok, SEO and future channels.

● Brand positioning, campaign strategy, creative direction, content and customer proposition.

● CRM, email, SMS, lifecycle automation, reviews, referrals and reactivation.

● Public Nectar, UserBoost and future suppliers, with Sonno-owned goals, access, data and scorecards.

● Recruitment, performance and development of the UK team, plus the controlled transition of current overseas activity.

● Measurement that connects channel activity to net sales, refunds, margin, payment, delivery and true marketing contribution.

● Cross-functional planning with Product, Procurement, Production, Delivery, Customer Success and Finance.

What we need you to demonstrate

● Senior in-house leadership of a DTC, retail or comparably complex ecommerce business with at least £10m annual revenue.

● Direct ownership of a commercial or contribution P&L - not only lead generation, awareness or platform-reported ROAS.

● Responsibility for at least £1.5m annual paid-media spend; £2m+ is preferred.

● Strong ecommerce trading judgement and fluency with Shopify or an equivalent platform.

● The ability to challenge Google, Meta and TikTok plans without needing to be the daily campaign operator.

● Strong judgement across brand, proposition, creative, product content, CRM and CRO.

● A record of recruiting and leading specialists, managing agencies and working with distributed / offshore teams.

● The ability to forecast, prioritise and communicate clearly at Board level.

Particularly valuable experience

● Furniture, home, mattresses, bulky goods or another considered physical purchase.

● UK manufacturing combined with imported ranges.

● Managing promotions against stock, capacity, delivery lead time and margin.

● Building a function in a founder-led or entrepreneurial business.

● Moving critical digital capability from suppliers or overseas teams into a UK-led structure.

Pay: £110,000.00-£125,000.00 per year
