The Group Finance Director is responsible for providing effective advice on financial, commercial and strategic matters. The individual will provide leadership, direction and management of the finance and accounting team, while defining and establishing the necessary processes and systems to deliver that vision, in line with the Group practices. The role involves strategic financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
The Finance Director will collaborate with other executives to drive the financial success of the company within the rail industry.
Roles and Responsibilities include.
Financial Planning and Analysis:
- Develop and implement financial strategies to support the organisation's goals and objectives in the rail sector.
- Conduct financial analysis, evaluate financial performance, and provide insights to support decision-making.
- Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Lead the annual budgeting process, ensuring alignment with organisational priorities and industry trends.
- Develop accurate and realistic financial forecasts, monitoring and adjusting as necessary.
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare and present comprehensive financial reports to the executive team and board of directors.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
- Risk Management:
- Identify and assess financial risks, developing strategies to mitigate and manage risks.
- Implement effective internal controls to safeguard company assets.
Strategic Leadership:
- Collaborate with other executives to develop and implement strategic initiatives that contribute to the company's success.
- Provide financial insights to support strategic decision-making.
- Implement the CK IMS processes and adhere to the HSQE assurance and control processes.
- Be the Owner and responsible manager for specific processes, as indicated in the CK IMS and this Job Description. Ensure these processes are implemented effectively and produce the intended output.
- Liaise with the HSQE department and lead Process Reviews for the specific processes.
- Participate in Integrated Internal Audits
- Participate in Incident Investigations and reviews.
- Identify opportunities for improvement and liaise with HSQE department to contribute to CKIMS continual improvement.
Team Management:
- Lead and mentor a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure the development and retention of key finance personnel.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Build and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, financial institutions, and industry partners.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field. MBA or relevant professional certification (e.g., CPA, CFA) is preferred.
Experience:
- Proven track record of at least 10 years in progressively responsible financial leadership roles, preferably within the rail or transportation industry.
- Experience in financial planning, analysis, and reporting.
Industry Knowledge:
- In-depth understanding of the rail industry, including regulatory frameworks, market dynamics, and industry trends.
Leadership Skills:
- Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve financial goals.
Strategic Thinking:
- Ability to think strategically and contribute to the development and execution of the company's overall business strategy.
Communication Skills:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
Analytical Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
Adaptability:
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic and changing environment, adapting strategies and approaches as needed.

Pay: £80,000.00-£90,000.00 per year
