Our small but effective, close-knit team are backed by 10 years of happy customers, from online P&A sales, mobile bike repairs, communitarian cycle advocacy and our Orro and Cube dealership just inside the M60. What are we up to?
As a truly independent rider-owned business with a number of growing prongs, we have built a resilient and dynamic bike business, open to new ideas but not swept away by them – we care about cycling and cyclists, It’s so much more than just a sport. The new shop puts us in the position to recruit a new assistant Manager to work on this launch and then drive all elements of the business as required based on customer demand. The new shop will leverage and contribute to the greater business, two shops with mobile and online outlets for P&A, bike repairs, cycle sales and our involvement in events and education. We have some pioneering concepts & are looking to take someone on who wants to hit the ground running and make their mark on the industry at large. In time, we will bring together our discrete business units, strengthening both our offer as a local workshop & as a national retailer. Assistant Shop Manager Job Description
Our reputation is for high-quality servicing of bikes, fair pricing and probably a bit more vibey than most shops, located a few metres from the Deaf Institute and Sugden gym you will work across both sites and across the business – getting a 360-degree view of what we are up to, where we are heading and how we will get there. But it all starts with being able to perform servicing at the highest level across all bikes, from £50 bangers to £13k bike porn– we want good customers to leave happy and supported, so they tell their friends.
We are evangelists for our bikes, our services, our mission and our customers cycling needs.
Responsibilities & Duties will include.
· To understand and meet weekly labour targets.
· Oversee trial days within the workshop and be included in the interview process.
· Managing daily repair workload and delegating and to team of mechanics/bike builders ensuring high quality of work.
· Constant review on tooling needs and condition of existing tools
· Training and development of Mechanic and Bike Builders to company expectations.
· Motivate and engage team and customers on daily basis.
· Workshop calendar management and monitoring lead times to ensure growth of customer base and workshop efficiency.
· Diagnosing/identifying problems for accurate service and repair.
· Be able to provide guidance on labour pricing structure to all colleague and customers in store.
· Ability to form quotes for repair within a customer’s budgetary constraints whilst empathising with their aspirations – room for the upsell whilst keeping things real!
· The ability to carry out all types of servicing at the most professional level.
· Keep the workshop stocked with service items, cables, cleaning products and PPE.
· A high level of product knowledge, knowing supplier brands.
· Keep presentation of workshop to our high standards and workshop team adhere to this. Retail is theatre – we have a punky no nonsense “real” brand even more important the place is organised and orderly!
· Knowledge and experience of POS systems will help, we are embarking on that journey as you join us! We already contact customers to arrange bike collections, via email, SMS or phone. Communication is our SUPER POWER!
· Work in a safe and efficient manner and adhere to all company policies and procedures relating to Health and Safety.
· Dealing with boxed bikes on a daily basis, unpacking, storing and adequately dealing with cardboard waste and recycling.
· To make all customers feel SUPER welcome and solve issues in a professional, friendly and properly personable manner.

Expertise - We are trying to de-jargonise cycling, that might be an impossible mission, or we will die trying! Educating customers helps them and ultimate helps the business, they get to understand just how we go to sort them out. Our aim to put together an expert driven bike business and you need to be down for that. We tell it how it is, with respect and our straight-talking style wins us lots of friends and the occasional enemy. The customer is always right, unless they are a bell ends.
Skills/Experience Required
Qualifications/skills
· Cytech 2 & 3/equivalent qualifications.
· Brand specific training.
· 2years+ experience of working as a mechanic a within a professional high paced environment.
· Previous Significant Workshop experience
· Great Communication Skills/Organisation
· Customer Service/Phone Manner.
· Leadership skills
· The ability to lift and deal with bikes 25kg+
