Responsibilities
- Assist teachers in delivering tailored educational programmes for pupils with special educational needs, including those with autism and disabilities.
- Support individualised learning activities and behavioural interventions to promote engagement and progress.
- Provide one-to-one support for children, including toddlers, ensuring their safety and well-being throughout the school day.
- Facilitate communication between pupils and staff, employing effective communication skills to support understanding and expression.
- Assist in managing behaviour and creating a calm, supportive environment conducive to learning.
- Support pupils during classroom activities, breaks, and outings, ensuring inclusivity and participation.
- Collaborate with external specialists such as speech therapists or occupational therapists to implement recommended strategies.
- Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and behavioural observations as directed by teaching staff.
Qualifications
- Experience working with individuals with autism, disabilities or in special education settings is highly desirable.
- Prior experience working with children or toddlers in educational or care environments.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children, teachers, and parents.
- Compassionate, patient, organised, and adaptable approach to supporting diverse learners.
- Relevant qualifications or training in special education needs (SEN), teaching assistance, or related fields are advantageous but not essential.
