Position Overview:
4 x 12 Hour Shifts
Sunday,Monday, Wednesday,Thursday
6pm-6am
As a supervisor, you will report to and coordinate with the depot manager and day supervisor. You will oversee a team of approximately 15 delivery drivers. Your responsibilities will range from motivating the team to ensuring smooth deliveries. In this fast-paced, challenging environment, you will help keep the depot running efficiently like clockwork. Working closely with the team, you will strive to provide excellent customer service and implement improvements to maintain company standards.
Coach and Develop:
With an eye for detail and a flexible approach to meet the needs of the business, you must be able to demonstrate that you have the drive to attain and maintain excellent standards across all areas of the depot. Ensuring that our teams provide the outstanding service expected and that all our deliveries are completed safely, successfully and on time.
Responsibilities:
Effectively lead the depot to excellent standards in the following areas:
Health & Safety
Learning & Development – performance management, feedback & training.
Despatch – ensuring all drivers leave at consistent times
HR operations – be able to carry out investigations and investigatory meetings
Transport – record any vehicles that make require work
Maintain good operating standards using the service summary.
Engage with colleagues in the depot keeping morale levels high and understanding where improvements can be made.
Motivating all staff by coaching and mentoring them through challenges and celebrating successes.
Take relevant action, under managements instructions to resolve and improve round performance.
Fully explain any processes, changes or developments within the business to all staff through notice boards and meetings.
Routing and organizing Delivery schedules
Covering Sickness and Holidays when necessary
Delivering customers when necessary
Health & Safety -
Drive a proactive H&S culture with safety audits and behavioral observations being part of the norm.
All accidents and injuries are recorded and reported following the set guidelines.
All manual handling training is carried out prior to equipment use and signed off by management.
Assess any risk and ensure safe systems of work are in place and adhered to, providing training and reassurance when needed.
Vehicle Fleet Management -
Communicate effectively with team to ensure all faults and repairs are reported and communicated to your day supervisor/manager so vehicles can be booked for repair
Full accident reporting processes are carried out (including getting third party details and reporting to insurer).
High standards of vehicle hygiene are followed.
Depot Team performance -
Review the following key points using a balanced approach which directly relate to depot and driver performance, discussing regularly with drivers, offering feedback reports:
Bottle Returns
Delivery issues
Communicating new canvass calls to drivers
Provide effective training to all staff and ensure any training practices are carried out to our standards of excellence.
Have regular conversations and listen to all staff, taking their comments on board, providing feedback and driving change with involvement.
Responsibly manage staff holidays & absence.
Experience -
- Background in dairy, food or drinks distribution preferred.
- Management experience in operations.
- Knowledge of Food safety audit standards.
