About the Role
This is a part-time role of 24 hours per week, based primarily at Residence Inn Edinburgh supporting the team on property for 16 hours per week. with remote support to our Aberdeen properties. You will be supported by the Multi-Property HR Director in Edinburgh and report to the Multi-Property HR Manager who is based in Aberdeen, supporting Residence Inn Edinburgh, Residence Inn Aberdeen, and Courtyard Aberdeen.
How your 24 hours per week is organized is open for discussion, it can be 3 x 8 hour days or shorter days over more of the week
You will manage the full associate lifecycle, support employee wellbeing and engagement, oversee learning and development compliance, and ensure all three properties remain fully aligned with Marriott's policies and procedures. No two days will look the same, and your work will directly shape the experience of associates across all three hotels.
Ideally you will bring existing HR experience and a solid understanding of the full HR process, combined with a proactive attitude and a genuine passion for people.
What You'll Do
Recruitment and Onboarding
- Manage end-to-end recruitment processes across all three properties, working closely with Heads of Department to ensure the right people are brought into the business
- Coordinate all pre-employment checks, right-to-work documentation, and background checks
- Organise and deliver inductions and onboarding for all new associates, ensuring every new starter feels welcomed and well prepared
- Create and maintain new hire and personnel files, ensuring accurate entry into HR systems at all times
Associate Lifecycle and Administration
- Maintain and update all personnel files and HR documentation across all three properties to the highest standard
- Keep all trackers up to date, including new starters, leavers, training completions, casual hours, and the 20-hour limit tracker
- Manage holiday entitlements and assist with holiday requests across all properties
- Oversee absence management, submit accurate absence records, and liaise with the payroll team to ensure timely and correct processing
- Handle payroll and pension queries professionally, escalating where necessary
- Oversee and organise HR data reports
Employee Relations and Policy
- Act as a trusted first point of contact for associates and Heads of Department on all HR matters
- Lead and advise on employee relations issues, supporting managers through investigations, disciplinaries, and other formal processes with professionalism and care
- Assist in the creation and implementation of HR policies and procedures, staying up to date with current employment legislation and Marriott standards
- Support change management processes and assist with reward and recognition initiatives across all three properties
Learning and Development
- Oversee learning and development compliance across all three hotels, tracking training completions and proactively following up where required
- Assist with the coordination and delivery of training responsibilities, ensuring all associates have access to the development they need
- Support managers and supervisors in meeting their team's learning obligations in line with Marriott standards
Employee Engagement and Wellbeing
- Champion a strong TakeCare culture across all three properties, organising initiatives that support associate health, happiness, and connection
- Run the weekly Wellbeing Wednesday initiative, delivering relevant and meaningful financial, mental, and physical wellbeing content to associates
- Organise associate engagement activities and events to maintain a positive, motivated, and connected team across all three hotels
- Foster a culture where associates feel valued, heard, and supported every day
What We're Looking For
- Previous HR or people management experience, ideally within hospitality or a similarly fast-paced environment
- A solid understanding of the full HR process from recruitment through to offboarding
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a confident, approachable manner
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and trackers across different sites
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel, with the ability to manage a busy inbox and to-do list effectively
- Discretion, integrity, and the ability to handle sensitive matters with professionalism and care
- A proactive, team-first attitude and a genuine passion for people
