Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Porter to join highly rated nursing home.The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and organisation within the kitchen environment, supporting cooks and kitchen staff to ensure smooth daily operations. Responsibilities
- Washing and sanitising dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment to ensure hygiene standards are met
- Assisting with basic food preparation tasks as directed by senior kitchen staff
- Maintaining cleanliness of work surfaces, floors, and storage areas within the kitchen
- Supporting the organisation of stock and ingredients to facilitate efficient kitchen operations
- Assisting with waste disposal and recycling procedures in accordance with health and safety regulations
- Ensuring all health and safety protocols are adhered to at all times
- Supporting the team during busy service periods by providing general assistance as required
Experience
- Previous experience in a restaurant, hotel, or hospitality environment is desirable but not essential; training will be provided for suitable candidates
- Knowledge of food preparation, cooking, and kitchen hygiene standards is advantageous
- Experience in serving or working within a culinary or hospitality setting will be considered a plus
- A proactive approach with good organisational skills and the ability to work efficiently under pressure is essential
- No formal qualifications are required; however, familiarity with health and safety regulations within a kitchen setting is beneficial, free access to food hygiene level 2 and 3 available.
