Job Title: Lead Furniture Designer - SolidWorks
Location: Chichester (fully onsite)
Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 DOE

Type: Permanent

Our client is a premier manufacturing distributor specialising in bespoke commercial and educational furniture solutions. Known for their close-knit, lively team and high-quality precision work, they are currently investing heavily in SolidWorks to elevate their design and manufacturing capabilities.

This is a hands-on senior position central to our client's transition from AutoCAD to SolidWorks. Working alongside an existing lead designer, you will produce immediate manufacturing drawings for custom furniture while simultaneously configuring the SolidWorks system for the wider business. You will also mentor a team of four AutoCAD designers through this transition.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Production: Produce accurate SolidWorks manufacturing drawings and specifications for bespoke furniture commissions under tight deadlines.
System Configuration: Set up the SolidWorks environment, including templates, part libraries, drawing standards, and best-practice workflows.
Team Mentorship: Train and mentor four AutoCAD designers to bring the entire team up to speed on SolidWorks.
Collaboration: Partner with Sales and Production teams to troubleshoot, develop new furniture designs, and support project implementation.

Skills & Experience:

Industry Expertise: Proven professional SolidWorks & SWOOD experience specifically within furniture, joinery, cabinetry, or woodwork manufacturing.
System Setup: Demonstrated experience configuring SolidWorks for production workflows, not just using it as an end-user.
Mentorship Skills: The patience and communication clarity required to effectively train and upskill colleagues.
Technical Sharpness: Strong understanding of made-to-order manufacturing processes, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects.

Desirable:

Prior experience guiding a team through an AutoCAD to SolidWorks transition.
Familiarity with commercial office or educational furniture design.

Pay: £40,000.00-£50,000.00 per year
